Future Voices is a 3-year media training program. It's delivered in partnership with ABC International Development (ABCID). The program builds the skills and leadership of journalists from Southeast Asia and Australia.
Each year, a new group of journalists enter the program and complete an online training course. A small sub-group is then selected for an in-country component in Australia.
The first program intake focused on women in sport media. It coincided with Australia hosting the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup in March 2026.
Participants travelled to Australia for a two-week training program. This training covered mobile journalism and digital storytelling. ABCID and Griffith University Business School delivered the training.
The next program will focus on climate change and will strengthen climate reporting across newsrooms and communities. Applications are open until 25 July 2026, and you can apply online.
