How do I apply?
Applications for the Short Courses are online.
Can I submit my application via email?
No. All applications will need to be submitted online through the correct site once published, by the closing date.
Will there be information sessions to learn more about the programs?
Yes. Virtual information sessions will be held for each Short Course. You can find more information on the virtual information sessions on the factsheets on our website.
Will there be a recording of the virtual information sessions?
A recording (for confidentiality reasons) will not be made public.
Eligibility requirements
Is the program limited to professionals within the specific career/industry background only?
The round is open to early-to-mid career professionals with 5-10 years of work experience to the relevant course. Applicants from a range of professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply, provided their experience aligns with the focus of the relevant course.
What are the minimum education requirements?
Applicants at minimum must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and provide a certified copy of your degree as part of your online application.
How many years’ work experience should I have to apply for the courses?
For our Short Courses, we are targeting early-to-mid career professionals with 5-10 years of work experience related to the course you are applying for.
Are male applicants able to apply for the AI and Digital Transformation Short Course?
The AI and Digital Transformation Short Course targets women applicants only.
I am not currently residing in my home country; can I still apply?
All prospective applicants must adhere to the following eligibility requirement of being a citizen of and residing in Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar *, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam or Timor-Leste. (*Residency requirement does not apply to Myanmar citizens.)
I have more than 10 years’ experience in the technical area of the Program, can I still apply?
The programs are targeting early-to-mid career professionals with 5-10 years of work experience. If you have more than 10 years' relevant experience you may still apply; however, priority and preference will be given to early-to-mid career professionals.
I have less than 5 years’ experience in the technical area of the Program, can I still apply?
The programs are targeting early-to-mid career professionals with 5-10 years of work experience. If you have less than 5 years' relevant experience you may still apply; however, priority and preference will be given to those with 5-10 years of work experience.
Employment and referees
I am not currently working; can I still apply?
Yes. In the application form, when prompted to insert current employment please enter ‘NA or not currently working’. Current employment status will not negatively impact eligibility, and you can use your most recent supervisor to complete the reference form. You may also list your most recent role and organisation along with any research and development activities where applicable.
Can I list my previous employer and provide a referee from my past role?
Yes. You may include your most recent position and provide a referee from your previous employer if you are not currently employed.

English language requirements
What English level do I need?
We recommend applicants have a professional working proficiency in English (recommended IELTS level 6.5 or equivalent exam).
If you have completed an English exam, you can upload the result as part of your application.
Additionally, the application form will ask whether your bachelor’s degree was completed in English and if you use English regularly in your job.
Does proof of working proficiency in English have to be an English test result? My IELTS has expired-can I submit my degree certificate and transcripts instead?
If you have evidence of working proficiency in English then please include this in the document upload section. You are also able to complete the questions regarding your previous studies in English and whether you regularly speak English in your role.
Can I submit the result of the TOEFL ITP Test?
You can upload any relevant English exam you have completed.
Program delivery and participation
What is the schedule of the course?
The course will include 8 days for the in-Australia component and participants are expected to attend the full program which could include day and evening activities during weekdays and weekends. Participants will need to ensure they are not working or have other commitments that will prevent participation. Dates for the in-Australia component will begin in November 2026. Refer to the fact sheets to see the exact dates for each short course.
The virtual component schedule will be dependent on the course provider and participant preferences. This may include sessions during work hours or outside work hours.
How many hours per week will be the online component?
The hours per week for the online component will depend on the selected course provider; however, it’s anticipated that it could be a few hours per week which may include work hours or outside work hours.
What material will be covered during the course?
This is dependent on the course provider and may be delivered through peer-to-peer learning, site visits, guest speakers, case studies and networking opportunities.
Travel costs
Do I need to cover the costs of travel and accommodation for the in-Australia component?
No. Participants will receive a return economy class airfare, accommodation, transport and meals for the in-Australia component.
In the event that an applicant is unable to travel, is there any requirement to compensate or cover associated costs?
Participants will have to commit to the in-Australia component. If a selected participant is unable to travel for any reason, they must advise the Program immediately and their position on the course will be offered to another participant.

Can I apply for more than one Program?
The Short Courses target very different technical areas so you should only apply for the course that aligns best with your work experience.
